When we were planning our days in Maastricht, I made sure we had enough places to visit where we could grab something to eat. First place on my list was Café Zondag, a café specialized in paninis, sandwiches, salads and even breakfast (a rare thing in the Netherlands!). We arrived in Maastricht right before lunch, so we wanted to try out the sandwiches. I chose the goatcheese sandwich (no surprise there!) with sun dried tomatoes and a walnut sauce. Wouter chose a sandwich with Serrano ham, rocket and tomatoes.
The place looked really nice and homey and we were enjoying the sunshine that poured in. Too bad we had to wait for the sandwiches for an hour and we were super hungry from our 3 hour ride to Maastricht. Come on, how much work is it, to make a simple sandwich? When Wouter asked about is, they reacted a bit annoyed, maybe they were hungry too, lol!
We really enjoyed to food (but maybe it was because we were starving), the ambiance and the music. The people working there, not so much. Without notice somebody stood on the window cill right next to me, with his shoes next to my sandwich, to open a window. A little warning would’ve been nice.
